is there anything from the cmbyn book that you wish was in the cmbyn film?
VIMINI. I adored her character in the book so much, her relationship with Oliver was so beautiful.
Some of the Vimini-related lines I love
but also break my heart:
- Why, Elio? You must forgive me for saying so, but you’ve never been very intelligent.
- She wrote to me every day. Every single day.
- I’ve kept all her letters, you know.
I think they didn’t include her character in the movie because like they’ve said many times, they wanted the only evil to be time.
Although time is also Vimini’s enemy too.Introducing illness and death into the movie would have distracted from Elio and Oliver’s story I think. Which is sad to think about and I would have loved to see her character on the screen.
If anyone just wants to talk solely about Vimini for a couple of hours I’m so down.I think I’ve spoken about the footsie scene and fuck me elio in previous asks but the teddy bear scene is not talked about enough!! It’s not one of those moments from the book I remember really well but I definitely want to go back and read it, so freakin’ cute.
