Friends and fiends,
I have enough!
The things I’ve witnessed in this fandom appal and sadden me:
- I’ve been called a pedophile because I don’t think it wrong when a 17yo sleeps with a 24yo
- I’ve been called a piece of shit because I wanted to write an AU-story
- I’ve been accused of misogyny because I’m not head over heels for a certain actor’s wife
- I’ve been called insane and a sick pervert just because I ship two real men
And I’ve taken it and taken it and taken it. I tried to stay civil. I tried to be nice and positive, I tried to ignore the hate, though sometimes it wasn’t fun at all.
Yes, I write RPF, but for me the F stands for fiction. It’s a lot of work but I cannot not write, so I do it in my rare spare time (I have a family and a full-time job at the side just so you know). Despite all of the above I have given content to this fandom that some folks really seem to like… until now.
Usually, I’m not the whiney type but enough is enough.
Because now a purge is going on over at AO3. I and other RPF writers have received a bunch of complaints to remove our RPF stories from the Call Me By Your Name tag – otherwise, the archive will have to delete them.
Those fics mean a lot to me. Writing them means a lot to me. Therefore, this hurts. Very much.
So, you don’t want me over there? Fine.
I am not interested in a fandom that is run by thieving kids (the amount of reposting in this fandom is disgusting and a disgrace), anonymous cowards, and the US purity brigade either. Seriously, all those little homophobic Armie and Timmy stans flooding this fandom make me want to scream and throw something.
Yes, I’m angry, yes, I’m hurt. This fandom has been a godsend for me after my last experiences. But now it turns into a rotten pile of toxic haters. This is fucking disappointing.
So I have decided that for the time being I won’t submit any more content to this fandom. That doesn’t mean I’m not writing or reading anymore, but I won’t put fic up for the next few days. I won’t reblog anything. I won’t like anything. I won’t comment on anything cmbyn related. I’m not a big blog and probably no one will even miss me but right now, in this self-righteous atmosphere, I just don’t feel like participating anymore.

As someone who was a long time lurker before participating in this fandom, this post makes me fucking sick.
@isitandwonder is one of my fucking fave blogs in this place and was from the very beginning. Fics are brilliant, content is brilliant, jokes and discourse are top fucking drawer, and what? They feel they have to be silenced because of the influx of self righteous low key homophobic Armie and Timmy stans, who frankly have made this place a misery since they got here?
Nah, man. This is bullshit.
The original crew who were here long before Timothée Chalamet became the hot new IT boy, continue to be the ones putting out decent and original content. Without them, you guys would see nothing but reblogs of pretty pictures.
Those facts about the film that you know? It’s because they unearthed them. The alternate theories you’re parroting? They created them. The gifs you circulate on the reg? They had the film before you knew there was a film to be had.
And all those names @isitandwonder was called? We were all called. And why? For the simple fact that we were adult enough to be able to separate facts from fiction but allow ourselves the creative freedom to merge the two for the sake of discourse and entertainment. To the harm of fucking nobody. Until content is stolen, taken out of context, and posted for the fucking world to judge on at least, if not sent directly to the actors in cases, for fuck sake.
For the record, I know that noone who disagrees with either my post or the original will actually reach out to us for an adult discussion on this, so maybe you’re reading this on a reblog full of hateful, sly, passive aggressive tags. If that is the case, the account you’re following is exactly the type who have ruined this fandom.
