My thoughts on the commentary

isitandwonder:

  • Michael said Armie played poker – not Oliver
  • Michael giggling during the Marzia/Elio first time scene, asking Timmy if he’d ever had done a scene like this before; Timmy’s shy ‘No’ in reply
  • Timmy mentioning Armie smoking in the attic when he was too lazy to go outside while he was commenting the scene when Elio goes down on Marzia
  • The strange talk of smelling smoke on Armie or in the attic?
  • Timmy saying ‘that was so much Armie on the bus’ – not Oliver. Armie.
  • Talking about self-protection in the wrestling scene in the Bergamo pensione
  • All the little giggles and sighs they both do
  • All their silences in the intimate scenes between Elio and Oliver
  • It was a joint they smoked in the midnight scene
  • Michael saying ‘room with a view’ (Ivory) when they are in the pensione in Bergamo
  • Timmy kinda hinting that the end scene isn’t that final as it comes over, with him tossing a coin at Elio’s and Oliver’s fate (kinda in tune with Aciman’s words explaining that we don’t know if Oliver leaves at the end of the novel). This gave me hope. Oliver says he might get married… who knows where a potential sequel picks up? Also, Timmy admitting a Boyhood moment when looking into the camera.
  • Timmy said he broke tension a bit in the last shot, even saying something in between (I have to rewatch)
  • No, darling, the peach scene was scripted, but not as you both played it
  • The last sceen they shot was the epic kiss in Bergamo

Reblogging this from last night because it somehow got cut after the third point…
