It’s Oliver and the fact he’s so SHY and he’s hiding everything from the world from the bery beginning. And when he finally lets his guard down, you can see how much he’s hurting. He’s in so much pain in Rome (Bergamo in the movie, whatever), but he doesn’t let Elio see it because he doesn’t want to hurt him. And then, he hides it for SO MANY YEARS and finally he writes “Cor cordium” on that damn postcard because HE NEVER FORGOT. I’m so sad i dunno, i think my heart is breaking.

There’s a moment in that scene where Elio steps up to Oliver and I think there might have been a line there that communicated that sentiment of trying to challenge him and I think Luca cut the line in that moment and just said ‘step up to him’.
