AU Oliver x Elio: Somewhere in New York in the mid-nineties (Part 2)

After the concert, Elio finds Oliver waiting at the bottom of the stairs at the Carnegie Hall stage door. Oliver says how great it is to see him and asks if Elio would let him buy him a drink (just to congratulate him on the successful concert, Oliver tells himself). If Elio doesn’t have anything else planned, of course, because he didn’t really think this through and how silly of him, of course there must be other plans, and obviously he doesn’t want to keep Elio from anything and he can just go–

Elio interrupts him mid-sentence. No other plans.

One drink turns into four, and polite conversation on each of their careers starts to give way to light flirting. Then Oliver mentions an old, stolen postcard and suddenly the mood shifts to something more serious.
