I get antsy when I haven’t produced content in awhile. I worry I’ll be forgotten. I feel like I have to keep buying my place in fandom with stuff like art and writing. Which makes it hard to produce content because that’s a lot of pressure to put on my creativity muses. So I sit here worrying instead.
Bleh.
HOLY SHIT THIS IS SUCH A MOOD
To everyone in the fandom who has been posting this the last few days: You are not obligated to continuously produce content. You are valued within this community by others, no matter what. I promise you that. You will not be forgotten. Don’t feel pressured. Do things in your own time. You are awesome. You are talented and you are welcome here always.
Eh….because it’s basically true. There are the hero stories in a fandom, the ones everyone reads that are practically issued to you when you crank up a new fan Tumblr. (And rightly so in some fandoms – the ‘classics’ are….classic.)
But then – there are all the works that are a little less mainstream, a little more niche. The only way to stay on the fandom radar is to constantly pump out new content.
That said – I’ve written stories I am proud of in fits of inspiration. When inspiration flees (as it has for me in Charmie-town), it cannot be forced.
I hope that if the muse returns, there will be people who recall Senza Parole fondly and want to read more – but at a certain point, I also accept that the fandom just has too much content to always be top of mind. Look at Sherlock – you could do nothing but read for months and never be near done. If people forget the earlier stories but like the latter ones, perhaps they will consider reading the author’s other works.
I don’t want to churn out bad stuff, or stuff I don’t feel deeply, just to keep in everyone’s minds. Writers – give yourselves a break. Readers – take a chance on other works of writers you enjoy.
you have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on. » pride and prejudice (2005)
Can we just talk about how absolutely perfect that runaway bride scene is with Prissy and the girls running out in the stark white snow?
And back in the church, Mrs. Andrews gives her husband the ever slightest dimple of a smile, expressing the subtlest glimpse of relief that her first daughter is not throwing away her future to marry a social climbing fool?
And Prissy trips and we think she’s broken down, and when she sits up she’s so blissfully happy with her decision to leave Phillips at the altar?
And how, in that moment, she forever changed those girls’ perception of societal expectations around marriage, education, and independence?
And they they all get up and dance in the cold winter sunshine, celebrating the momentous occasion?
And how, while few words are spoken, it’s the most pure and beautiful piece of cinematography, a bright contrast to the dark alternative future Prissy would have endured had she followed through with the ceremony?
Look i dont wanna sound like a Fandom Mom or whatever but what do you think women over 25 or so are supposed to do? Do u really think theyre supposed to drop all their interests and just talk about taxes and marriage or whatever? It seems like 25+ year old fanboys do not receive this kind of “ooh cringe” reaction either. There are guys in their 40s with comic book collections and shit and people might think theyre a nerd at worst, not a freak who shouldnt be trusted
i would even go so far as to say that especially women >30 with jobs and families and whatnot who have to manage a thousand things on a daily basis often need things like tumblr/fandoms as compensation.
“Whilst the definite cause of the wildfires is unknown, the weather conditions created a deadly environment for a fire to spark. Scorching hot weather in Greece has dried out undergrowth and foliage, making any flames easily able to spread. Wind speeds of up to 50mph have also contributed to the spread of fire. Authorities are also employing a drone to scan the area the fires have come from, to rule out any suspicious activity. How far have the fires spread? The fires are on the east coast of Greece and have spread across residential areas and towards beaches. It is not yet clear how many acres of land have been covered by the flames but strong winds have fanned flames stretching as wide as four miles near Kineta, local officials said. An Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) spokesman said: “The wildfires in Greece are northeast of Athens in the Penteli area and 50km west of Athens.“This area isn’t a main destination for UK tourists. People on holiday in the region are advised to monitor news reports and follow any advice or instructions issued by the local authorities, their travel company or their accommodation providers.“
You can try to donate here if you want, though the source isn’t actually very known, I actually saw that right now. They haven’t said anything about that in the news, though I believe it may be trustworthy.
btw a relief fund is being set up by the hellenic red cross http://www.redcross.gr/ which you can donate to through the following bank account:
